The location recce was created so that we could scout for appropriate and good location, that we could do our photoshoots. We at locations such as Camden market, Camden lock and any other area in Camden that was modern and representative of North London, due to the magazine being North London based. We used these locations because the have that RnB especially the last location with the graffiti wall, because it has that London feel and the RnB free due to the colors.

Risk Assessment for on Location Photoshoot

Hazard
Who would be affected
How to avoid the hazard
How likely it is to happen

The risk assessment for on the location for the photoshoot is used to make sure that the location is safe to use and that there would be any health and safety issues that may effect the cast and crew, and if there is it allows them to create contingency plans and safety precautions to deal with the risks.

Hazard
Who would be affected
How to avoid the hazard
How likely it is to happen
Equipment falling over
The models, photographer and any other crew members.
To avoid this hazard we could weight down the equipment and make sure that they are properly in place.

2/5
Moving vehicles
The models, photographer and any other crew members.
To avoid this hazard we could pick a location that isn’t near any moving vehicles and busy roads

3/5
The Public getting in the way or pushing and attacking
The models, photographer an any other crew member
to avoid this hazard we could be aware of the public and choose locations that aren't as busy
 2/5
 Equipment being stolen
The photographer and the crew members
By creating a list of all the equipment and checking that list constantly to make sure that the equipment is all there
 3/5
Tripping over steps and floor placements
the model, photographer and crew members
By finding suitable areas and locations that have a straight floor.
 2/5

We created a Risk assessment so that we could make sure that all the risks where noted for, so that we could inform the crew what the risks are and how we can avoid those risks. The risk assessment table allowed us to create contingency plans so that if one of theses risks did happen then we can quickly sort the risk out and continue with the photoshoot.

                                                                        Moodboard

Layout

Initial Sketches of the Front cover and Double Page Spread:

In the initial sketch for the front cover, as you can see we have we have the mast head/ title on the left hand side and we have filled up the space on the right hand side of the skyline so that we filled as much dead space as we could so that the front cover doesn't look boring. we then added content on the left side of the magazine so that the reader are informed of what is inside the magazine before they buy it. We also included a barcode at the bottom so that they can scan it when they are purchasing the magazine. Finally we included a close up at a straight angle of the artist, so that the readers can possibly connect with the artist through the image.

In the initial sketch for the double page spread, we decided to put an image on the left side of the double page spread so that the artist can be seen straight away. And we decided to put the columns and text on the right side so that the image is covered out and so that the text is more visible and clear to see as well as eye catching and intriguing.

Final sketches for the front cover and the double page spread.

This is the final sketches for the front cover. This is because we decided to pick an image that will be a close up what is a straight shot and allows the reader to connect with the artists through the magazine. We also decided to keep the title of the magazine on the top left of the mast head and continue to keep the extra content on the top right part of the skyline. We also kept the same where the content of the magazine would go, which is on the left hand side of the magazine and some places on the right side so that we fill as much dead space as we can with out making it look messy and unprofessional. We also decided to keep the barcode on the bottom left corner so that it is visible but out of the way. We also decided to add strap line at the bottom of the front cover to add more information and content that would attract more readers and attract people from our target audience, which is 16-20 year olds.

The final sketch of the double page spread, is a full body shot, that shows and represents the theme of North London and shows the vibes of RnB. The name of the artists will be at the middle top of the mast head and the artists will be in the middle of the double page spread so that the sole focus and the attraction goes straight to the image and is eye catching to the audience. The article and the content will go beside the image on both the left hand side and the right side so that as much space can be filled.

Fonts

The font we are choosing for the masthead is the Dream orphans bold font as it is ascetically pleasing and because it is a simple but somewhat eye catching it will attract readers. This will be used on the front cover for the titles. It will also be used on the double page spread for the title.

We chose the Times font as it is a more traditional font meaning that it will attract an older audience as well as a younger audience, however it is a very easy to read and understand as it is not a busy and messy font. This type of font is going to be used for the content inside the magazine, for example in the double page spread the article will be typed up in the Times font.

The font we are choosing for the masthead is the Unispace Bold font as it is ascetically pleasing and because it is a simple but somewhat eye catching it will attract readers. This will be used on the front cover for the titles. It will also be used on the double page spread for the title.

Legal and Ethical issues

Legal:
Copyright against registered logos and literacy
- Trademarks against logos
- Design rights against the designs of the magazine
- Taking photos on private property without consent

The legal issues that we may need to take into consideration are copyright against registered logos and literacy, trademarks, design rights, taking photos without model consent and taking images on private property without the signed permission. We need to ensure that we don't do any of these as they will cause us legal issues. We will do this by create a logo that has never been used or create, or get the rights to use a certain logo, we will also make sure that we take inspiration from other magazine but never copy the designs or text that they may use. Finally we will get consent from the models and consent for the owners of the private property if we use their property for photoshoots.

Ethical:
- Race Relations act against discrimination of a person of race (ethical)
- Harm and Offense against explicit words and images
- Recyclable paper

The ethical issues that we may need to take into consideration are the race relations act against discrimination of a person of race, harm and offense against explicit words and images and recyclable paper. We need to ensure that we don't do any of these as they will cause us    ethical issues. We will do this by not including any racism towards anyone of colour or background, we will also not include any harmful and offensive words and images, so that the readers will not be offended or harmed by what they read and see on our magazine.
